Sunderland make worst ever start to a Premier League season

David Moyes is still waiting for his first win as Sunderland manager

The struggling Black Cats looks like they might snatch a point after Jermain Defoe cancelled out Alexis Sanchez’s opener with a penalty midway through the second half, but Arsenal struck three goals in seven minutes to seal an emphatic victory.

David Moyes’ men are rooted to the bottom of the table having taken just two points from their first 10 games, and their goal difference now stands at -13.

After Manchester City in 1995/96, Sunderland are only the second side in Premier League history to have just two points at this stage of the season, and Arsenal’s fourth goal ensured they now have a worse goal difference than City’s.a
